Almost half of the UK’s total Internet users go online using their mobile phone data connections, a new survey by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) has revealed. The trend of accessing the Web via mobile devices is particularly pronounced in the 16 to 24 year old age group, from whom 71% used mobiles to surf online. Only 44 % had done so a year earlier.

Hands-free mobile devices do not improve road safety, according to report by a U.S. transport watchdog, the Governors Highway Safety Association. The report was based on an analysis of more than 350 scientific papers on ‘distracted’ driving, and claims that as many as a quarter of U.S. car crashes are associated with gadget use. Hot on the heels of the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) warning that cellphones (mobile phones) may cause cancer, a new study reveals that those warnings may be too late for some as it takes some 15 to 20 years for primary cnacers to develop. The new research undertaken by Interphone, using data from 13 countries, found that using a mobile phone for only 15 minutes a day can substantially increase the risk of brain cancer. The longer people used their mobiles, the higher the risk.
