An unnamed premier league side has analysed the DNA of its players to determine how injury prone their squad of players is. A profile of 100 genes which play a key role in athletic performance and in the potential for suffering injuries was built up simply by taking swabs from the players’ mouths, it has been revealed.

Liverpool want the Premier League to allow clubs to negotiate their own overseas TV rights when the current deal expires in 2013. The club’s managing director, Ian Ayre, thinks the comparatively even spread of the collectively negotiated overseas TV rights amongst the Premier League clubs is placing clubs like Liverpool at a disadvantage to other top European sides.

A Motherwell footballer Steve Jennings has been arrested by Merseyside Police at his home in Glasgow on suspicion of fraud. Wayne Rooney’s father is also implicated as are a nine men who have been questioned over alleged suspicious betting activity on a Scottish Premier League match between Motherwell and Hearts on 14th December 2011.

Forty five years after England’s greatest moment in football, a very strange truth has been discovered: three unnamed German players used a banned stimulant ephedrine, during the historic final against England. A letter has just been released from historians at Berlin’s Humboldt University that reveals the shame. Dated 29th November 1966, the letter from the Yugoslav chairman of Fifa’s medical committee, Mihailo Andrejevic gives the information to Max Danz, also a doctor, who was president of the West German Athletics Federation.
