Montreal’s critically acclaimed Cirque du Soleil has announced the dates of its 47 city Canada and US tour which pays tribute to Michael Jackson. The show will combine Jackson’s music and choreography with the acrobatics of the renowned circus troupe. Michael Jackson The Immortal launches with its world premiere in Cirque’s hometown Montreal on 2nd October and will then travel in North America until July next year.

The film industry could be poised for yet another paradigm shift with Facebook central to the action. Yesterday, the Hollywood studio Miramax making twenty of its films available for online viewing via the ubiquitous Facebook. Initially the movies will be available to rent for 48 hours for three dollars each, with payment accepted in the form of Facebook credits. The studio is offering the Miramax eXperience app for free via its Facebook page. , which directs you to add the Miramax app. The app will also bring the movies to many other different platforms – iPads and Google TV.

The 17th Century Rembrandt sketch that was stolen from a California hotel at the weekend has been found at a church about 20 miles away, on Monday night according to a Los Angeles sheriff’s spokesman. The drawing was stolen from an exhibition organised by the San Francisco gallery, the Linearis Institute, at the Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Dey, Los Angeles on Saturday at about 22:30 when a curator was distracted by a guest.

Tony Parsons, the writer and journalist, has accepted a seven day tenure as Heathrow’s writer-in-residence for the week 3rd to 9th August. He will essentially live at the airport and roam around talking to passengers whilst having access to pilots, air traffic controllers and immigration officers. He will receive an undisclosed flat fee in return for which Heathrow plans to publish a collection of short stories in October, entitled: “Departures: Seven Stories From Heathrow”. Five thousand copies of the book are to be given away free to passengers.
